Basic pump parameters

When selecting pumps, basic parameters should be taken into account:

Q – flow rate, determines how much water the pump is able to pump in m3/h, l/s

H – pump head, specifies where the pump is able to transfer (lift) a given liquid. This parameter is specified in units of m.c.w., where 10 meters of water column corresponds to 1 bar.

η – pump efficiency, defines the ratio of usable power to the power at the pump shaft

NPSH – specifies the excess pressure over the saturated steam energy at a specified temperature. The excess is specified by the pump manufacturer.
